Ain't our annual budget like 4.5T.

We are spending like 20% more than we are taking in.

If a poor person did something like that, the bootstrapping crowd would try to feed them to the dogs for being diverse, poor and stupid haha.

The projections from 2018 to 2028 are horrifying.

Mandatory social security, Medicare, mediacid payments are projected to grow 95% from 2.1 trillion to 4.1 trillion. By contrast defense expenditures are projected to grow 24% from 622 billion to 769 billion.

Mandatory spending + interest is currently 71% of our budget. We're on track to having $1 trillion interest payments after 2028.

Starting in 2019, the outlays for off budget items (social security trust fund and postal service) will start exceeding revenues. 16 billion/yr deficit in 2019 growing to 340 billion/yr in 2028.

Trump promised to protect entitlements and a significant amount of people probably voted for him in the primary and general because of it. We all know Ryan and Mulvaney and McConnell and the rest of the crew have no intention of keeping that promise. Will be interesting to see what happens when they come for it.

Well, you’d need a time machine for that to be a milestone. But yes, Republicans are much better at complaining about the deficit than they are at not causing it.

Correct. As wags pointed out, almost 3/4 of the budget is mandatory spending + interest.

Anyone who proposes cutting mandatory/entitlement spending will be turned out by the public.

The only thing you can really cut is "Defense," and the uniparty doesn't want that.

We are Brazil with worse weather and more bombs.

Just think of how easy it'll be to pay off your student loans then! "Hmmmm, should I go buy a gallon of milk or just knock off the last $50k of my student loans?"

But seriously this is getting absurd.

to me this is the funniest part.

pensions take in contributions from bob, buy treasuries. so Bob just gave his own money to the military industrial complex, got an IOU back, and funniest part - Bob himself as taxpayer is responsible for the IOU to himself.

they are gonna auction off public assets. that's the idea. and the banks will use public bailout money to buy them from public.
