I have written a short guide to case briefing and legal reasoning for law students: A More Rigorous Approach to Teaching the Reasoning Portion of Case Analysis: A Key to Developing More Competent Law Students. You can find it at https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=2468281 . The reason my case briefing method is more rigorous than traditional ones is because it requires students to identify the type(s) of legal reasoning used by the judge in a particular section: rule-based reasoning, analogical reasoning, synthesis, distinguishing cases and arguments, and policy-based reasoning.

Thank you for this. Two of your books have been very helpful as I increase the amount of legal analysis instruction I include in my legal research and writing classes. I look forward to reading this.

Inshallah and great thanks brother. Said materials proved most advantageous over several fortnights of legal analysis. May Allah's will (as bespoke by the Prophet) shine down upon you brother.

I wish I could. I know how much many of you are suffering, and I don't see it getting any better in the near future. All I can do is write books and articles that will make you better lawyers when you graduate.
