Construction contract; plaintiff dissolved contract unilaterally before work was completed, claiming poor workmanship. I'm repping defendant.

Don't know your Jx. In mine, these "Judge Judy" courts are called "Justice Courts." One thing that's a major disadvantage sometimes is that a party dissatisfied with the result can appeal to the County Court at Law, and the case is tried de novo.

Why do you think there would be any advantage in City Court? Is discovery relaxed? Rules of evidence relaxed? What's different?
