Getting personally involved with someone who's doing your advertising for your firm?

I'm wondering if this is permissible under the ethics rules. parlance06/07/17

I'm wondering if this is permissible under the ethics rules. For a long time, I've been able to keep things professional, but it's a question that has crossed my mind lately. I am aware that when it comes to ethics rules and our relationships, you can't be too circumspect.

My boss is the one who chooses and pays for the advertising, so I would say not much.

Bone her first and ask questions later.

Is she an employee or an outside contractor?

Is it a really bad idea? Almost certainly.

Is it against your state's attorney ethics rules? Almost certainly not, but you should check to be sure.

That's another factor. I'm wondering if by doing this, I would make my firm as a whole look unprofessional and if the answer is yes, that's the only answer I need.
In that case, I would just hold off and hope she's still single if and when I ever leave.

I don't get what rule this would implicate.

It's not an employee.

It's not a client.

Who cares? Don't overthink it.

Great to be circumspect but consensual sex is not yet against the ethics rules. Yet.

No. I'm an associate. That's my boss and his office manager who make those decisions.

Thanks for the reply. I don't think I'd be concerned. When I was in the military I felt I had to turn down a nice lady in a similar situation, except in that case I was the one deciding which vendors got what work on a daily basis.

I somehow have an image of this guy's boss calling him in and asking if he slept with the ad girl. *Shamed Nod* Followed by a slap on the back and the statement "Glad to know you're straight!" Relax buddy. Everyone does it. Or wishes they are.
