Hey,

I read some online posts that stated January and February are the best time to look for a new job. Followed up by September and October. The worst time is November December and June July August.

Is this true generally for inhouse legal positions as well?

Thanks

I imagine that people at jobs where they get bonuses around the holidays will stick around for that before jumping ship, so January and February sound credited for openings.

I can vouch for end of Q4 as generally being not a great time as legal depts may be trying to stay on budget and not increase headcount. As to the summer, I guess that many ppl are on vacation and there may be less available ppl to do interviews.

Based upon what I have seen, businesses and insurers will generally post and fill vacancies as they arise throughout the year. Certain elite entities may be able to time their hiring, but most need to fill vacancies in short order.

That being said, there is typically an uptick in entry-level legal job postings around the time of bar passage results, which may result in a higher likelihood of some in-house jobs being listed. However, I have never seen a notable concentration of in-house jobs at any given time.

Just anecdotally i feel like I've seen a lot less positions in the last month or so as compared to January to April. Does anyone feel the same?
