Anyone worked in this office? I'm being recruited for it. Seems great for resume fodder, but I don't know if I could afford to take a job like this.

It will be a secure job for the duration of Trump and probably long thereafter. Part of our new merciful policied in the nyc boroughs.

I saw this job advertised (briefly, it does not pop up on their regular site) and thought it would be a good gig for someone who had immigration experience and did not mind gumming up the works of the federal immigration system for a living (or, if you prefer, helping undocumented aliens who have committed minor crimes:-).

Be aware that this is an initiative of the new new DA (who replaced the old new DA when the old new DA died of cancer fairly soon after defeating the old old incumbent DA who'd been there for several decades)... and who may or may not win reelection. The Brooklyn DAs office has always been quite political, with all that implies, and this upcoming DA election looks like it will be a battle between certain ethnic voting blocks in Brooklyn.

Note I have no inside info and I don't work for a DA, it's just what I know as an outside observer...

Resume fodder? Lol are you serious? You will be dealing with hundreds of clients who are probably at one of the most emotional points in their lives. You need to be 150% committed to this. I don't think you are right for this job.

The position seems more policy-oriented than client-facing, and certainly not defense-side. I've been practicing immigration law for nine years now, and have solid background dealing with ICE attorneys. The issues that prosecutors need to know about are exercise of prosecutorial discretion and Padilla, and I have extensive experience in both (from the defensive side).
